Mark St. Cyr Instagram – Chadwick Boseman was a major source of inspiration to me. In 2013 I wrote letters to Chadwick (swipe right) because I hoped to meet him and learn from him. I had just done the ABC showcase (which he had done in his past), and I hoped to make a connection with a black actor I looked up to who was shining a light and leading the way for others to follow. ⁣ I thought my letter fell on deaf ears as my letters didn’t seem to bear fruit. But I guess God was listening. ⁣ 3 years later I met him. @reggiehudlin offered me a role across from him in Marshall. He had just been cast as the Black Panther. As we sat in the hair and make up trailer together getting ready, I pondered if I should share with him how I had envisioned meeting him 3 years ago.I guess, I didn’t want to take the risk of disturbing his preparation and I kept it to myself. I’ll always wonder what he might’ve made of that. But getting to act with him made me believe in magic again. And seeing him in between takes, doing impressions of James Brown, warmly joking with everyone – that was one of the more magical days of my life thus far. ⁣ ⁣ I always wanted to see a black superhero on TV when I was a kid. ⁣ I’m glad I got to meet this one. ⁣ ⁣ Rest in Power Chadwick. ⁣ Thank you for being an inspiration. ⁣ Wakanda Forever.
