They built wealth in the Greenwood neighborhood, known as “Black Wall Street.” It was the wealthiest Black community in America. In 1921, a white woman claimed that a Black man tried to assault her. Soon after, white residents responded by burning down the entire community. Every home. Every business. An entire generation of wealth destroyed in days. 300 people were killed. The police did nothing. When Trump first scheduled his rally in Tulsa on Juneteenth, this is the history he wanted to commemorate.
