Alcina ‘s Mackerel Cutlets
4 Mackerels medium sized
(boil them in 2 cups water ,some salt pinch of turmeric powder ,half a sliced onion and one green chilli slit)
3 medium sized onions chopped fine
1 green chilli (chopped fine )
Heat some oil inn a kadai, add the chopped onions and chilli and fry till onion till soft and translucent.
add the flaked fish Let it cook for some time ..add 1/4 tsp turmeric 1/2 tsp jeera powder and 1 tsp garam masala
Cook well. Take off gas let it cool check for salt …if required add salt as per taste …add two tsp of Goa vinegar …mix well U can store it or use it right away …
When using it add one egg to the mixture to bind well,
Form small round balls …flatten them and coat with either breadcrumbs or rava
Shallow fry ! Yum!

Ida’s Pomfret Caldeen
2 pomfret cut into 3 pieces each kept aside with salt.
500 gms freshly scraped Coconut
3 Green chilies
6 pods garlic
1/2 inch Ginger
Coriander seeds 1 tsp
Jeera 1 -2tsp
Turmeric 1 tsp
Tamarind ball of coin size
2 onion
1 tomato
Add half the grated coconut ,coriander. Jeera seeds , turmeric , ginger , garlic chilli tamarind , a little water and Grind into a fine paste.
Finely chop 2 onions and one tomato
Saute well
Add the finely ground masala . Let it boil then extract two juices of the remaining coconut . Add the thick juice first Followed by thin juice . Dash of vinegar . Add the pomfret. Cook well!
