Naveen Instagram – Repost . Humans of Indian weddings . “I was born as a consequence of a wedding . My parents got married and nine months later, purely due to “god’s blessings” I popped out. And thus began my tryst with attending weddings. It didn’t matter who got married . When two beautiful people on their “special” wedding night vowed to live in the same house and look into their respective phones for the rest of their lives , I was there . Dancing at the sangeet . Licking my fingers at the chat counter . I worked hard . I wanted to be a professional wedding attendee. There is something about seeing a couple set off on a journey of eventual boredom , depreciating sex , slow hatred for each other while raising kids who will flip them off once they hit puberty . I can hear the awwwwwws. But it was not a smooth ride . Sometimes I had to attend two weddings in a day . I would eat lunch at one and dessert at the other . That’s the kind of determination and resilience my father taught me . He always said “Don’t eat today beta we have that wedding tomorrow “ It has been tough with this pandemic. Hardly attended any weddings. I always used to look forward to “NRIs in India for two weeks to find their soul mate so they can have someone to do dishes with “ month or as they call it December . When you are picking your soulmate remember one thing. You could get married in a palace in Jodhpur but if you are a Madhavi who weds Parikshit, your hashtag is #MadShit. So think about that. To all the couples getting married , remember this wedding is not about you . This is a chance for us to dress up like we are going to rule the Delhi sultanat.
