Happy Victory Day!!! On this day in 1876, Oceti Sakowin (Lakota), Cheyenne and Arapaho relatives took out General Custer and the Seventh calvalry at the Battle of Little Big Horn. Custer took a fatal blow to the head, and though it is not my story, what I’ve learned is it may very well have been a Cheyenne woman who took him out. Thinking about her today. Buffalo Calf Road Woman rode by her husband’s side in battle that day, and only days before, she had saved her brother, Comes in Sight, after his horse had been shot out from under him. She rode into enemy fire to save him, in the battle “Where the Girl Saved Her Brother” (please correct me if I’m wrong, Cheyenne family!) Thinking about my sisters today. Thinking of all the ride-or-die women in my life, and hoping the world continues to realize how much we need to follow your lead. I mean, who else is *that* badass? Tonight’s the night!!! THE NIGHT BABBY DIED on Room 104!!! I couldn’t love this story more, and am so deeply grateful that Jenée LaMarque and Julian Wass trusted me with their Abby. This deeply moving and charmingly funny story elevated my work, not only because of Jeneé’s tremendous direction, and the beautiful writing of this power couple (holy crap they are amazing), but because of the deeply generous and totally electric performance of KING Leonardo Nam as Bruce ❤️ This creative team certainly made me a better actor, and the whole cumulative experience of making this episode has *truly* made me a better human being. Thank you ALL for your beautiful work, I’m in awe of you. I am and will remain (1) forever grateful (2) a bit stunned that I was allowed to play with you all in this iconic room.
