Greg Furman Instagram – I know this might not do much for you, depending on your circumstance. This virus covers the spectrum for all of us, and while we all share the same historical anomaly, each of our experiences are going to differ dramatically. Some of us are sick, some of us are not. Some of us have lost jobs, some of us have lost family. Some of us, through pure luck-driven diligence have only the inconvenience of being cooped up in our homes. Some of us prepared too much (your ass doesn’t need a thousand rolls of paper). Some of us not at all (Dear Florida, we hope spring break was worth it). All we have control over, in a world where there seems to be none, is how we react to our circumstances. How we choose to move forward mentally. Again, this may not help you. You might scoff at it or shrug it off because It’s not being provided to you from someone whose circumstances match yours. That’s fine. At the end of the day we’re all human beings that share a foundation below our socio-economic ties. Perspective is power, and while all of us, regardless of circumstance, share a lack of power in these times (more than usual), perspective-power is nevertheless, without fail, fully accessible. This has always been one of my favorite quotes since I was a kid. Feels more appropriate now that we’re locked up in quarantine. I suppose I could have just posted it by itself and saved you the read, but as it turns out these days it seems I’ve got some time on my hands. “Two men looked out from prison bars, One saw the mud, the other saw the stars.” – Dale Carnegie
