Raine Maida Instagram – Brian Garcia was one the first people I met when moving to Los Angeles back in 2000. He was a music junkie & first class engineer. We worked on a lot of projects together in those early days. Brian was the consummate professional. He was an engineers engineer. Understood the art and science of it but more importantly he cared. He never settled & could magically make the worst sounding drum kit or guitar amp sound great. He could take someone’s 70 track session and somehow make sense of it and deliver a refined & polished mix. Those AKG near field headphones his secret weapon. We had a lot of late nights and many laughs along the way. Life got busy. Kids, career shifts & LA traffic made our time together less frequent as the years went by. Brian always had a huge smile & even bigger heart. He was an eternal optimist ready to make the best of any situation so when we heard he was in the hospital fighting Covid I never doubted he would win that battle. This was not to be. Brian’s faith was a pillar in his life & i know that during these last few weeks he drew comfort there. Brian touched many lives. Full of knowledge and inspiration. His contribution to the arts will be a profound part of his legacy but his deep laugh & broad smile will be missed most. Gutted. Rest in power my friend. Los Angeles, California
