Michael Bearden Instagram – Why is it we always think our heroes will live forever? ⠀ ⠀ Chick Corea’s music is still here but, Chick’s unique perspective is gone. ⠀ ⠀ You can take 10 pianists and have them play the same song at the same piano, and every performance will sound and feel different!⠀ ⠀ We all live our own unique lives. How you live, is how you sound!⠀ ⠀ It’s been a minute since I played just for the sake of playing. Been wearing many hats in my career! With a lot of responsibility! ⠀ I filmed the introduction. (It’s such a beautiful prelude so many skip over.) Then I stopped to create a loop to play over instead of just a click. ⠀ ⠀ I only took 2 choruses. Cause it’s so easy to take 22! Lol 😆 ⠀ ⠀ This is my small tribute to the great legacy of Chick Corea! M~ @yamahaentertainmentgroup @howard1867 #chickcoreaspain
Michael Bearden Instagram – Damn! 💔 Just losing so many greats! It’s exhausting!⠀ ⠀ I want to do my best to focus on the positive and the time we’ve had while they were here.⠀ ⠀ Chick was a childhood hero of mine. Someone I was later to be able to call a friend. ⠀ ⠀ I met Chick when I was really young. And, later, we were label mates in NYC at GRP records (I was in a band at the label) in the late 80’s, early 90’s. ⠀ ⠀ Chick was always super nice to me. And, always gave me advice whenever I asked. ⠀ ⠀ One day out of the blue, I get a call. “Hey Michael. It’s Chick.” Hey Chick! What’s up man? “I have some questions about hip hop. Can you help me navigate through some ideas?” Of course. Anything I can do, I will. ⠀ ⠀ And, that’s just the kind of dude he was. I’m gonna miss him! 😢 We still have the music! M~⠀ ⠀ #chickcorea #piano #keyboard #legend #icon #jazz #classical #genius⠀ ⠀ (The last slide is an “All Star” band tribute to Herbie Hancock at the Kennedy Center.
