โThe vote is precious. It is the most powerful non-violent tool we have in a democratic society, and we must use it.โ – John Lewis
#VOTE #vote2020
Iโve been spending time in this pandemic listening to myself, staying off of the social medias, and taking action old school: person to person, marching peacefully, phone calls, difficult conversations, introspection, following curiosityโฆto investigate what this time is for me, how to BE and implement lessons into my life and my work, to emerge as a better person, and to participate in ways that feel valuable and actionable to me. Balancing self care, family care, growth, and seeing what action looked like pre-platforms. So today I felt compelled to pop by and sayโฆVOTE. People have suffered so that you can vote. Do not become complacent. Voting is our collective voice, as a body of people, and I do hope and pray that we emerge out of this time and pandemic seeking to find togetherness and understanding. The real, raw, painful work that it takes to arrive there. To acknowledge one another, and attempt to heal.
I can only speak to my own experience, but growth (inside and out) takes hard work, honesty, vulnerability, strength, and a good hard look in the mirror, daily. But ultimately I know where I wanna BE and who I wanna BE and how I wanna BE. And friends and strangers, I see you attempting the same. Letโs never give up trying to find a way to arrive at the dream and potential of what living together COULD be, in our imperfect attempt each generation to achieve it. Love to you all. All your successes, your pain, your challenges, your joys. Iโm seeing it. I see you. Find your agency, be kind to one another, and continue to be relentless. | Posted on 27/Oct/2020 23:47:26
