Amy Pemberton Instagram – It took 7months to learn this piece (not being a natural piano player & learning it note by note) but when I tried to record it over & over again, I got really disheartened that it didn’t sound ‘good enough’. So… beyond frustrated, I gave up & left it. I have always loved this song since seeing the insanely talented @scott_myrick & @ashley_gonzo dance to this years ago at dance precisions. Then a few weeks later during a conversation with a beautiful friend of mine…my dad came through to her (which has never happened in the 11 years since he died) & the message was….’Tell her to play, she won’t listen to me, tell her to play, she needs her music….’ 💜 ..Firstly, I burst into tears as I was in shock (music was such a huge part of our lives together & I’ve found it really hard to listen / play as much since he’s been gone)…I then panicked as I wasn’t sure this would ever happen again & thought oh gaaaad I have so many things I want to say to him… So, I asked my friend to ask him if he was ok…. ? To which he smiled & said… ‘I’m fine, I’m always with you… I love you & I’m so proud of you….play.’… 💜 ….I sobbed…uncontrollably… but then got myself together & took myself back outside to re-record this piece for the 8 hundredth time. After getting my head around what happened as it took me a minute, I am so thankful to know that my Dad is ok, still smiling & still there for me after all this time. And so grateful for my beautiful friend being able to give me that gift. 🙏🏻 So – here’s a ‘not perfect but I nearly threw the keys at the fence version of’ …. ‘The Face’ by #ryandan 💜 xo
