![Kate Mara Instagram – Elsie Herring is a beloved activist and hero who has tirelessly fought for over three decades to protect the rights of her community against abuse from the hog industry. She has persevered despite enduring the effects of the industry’s pollution, intimidation, and exploitation for years. The hog farm next door to her home and family land routinely sprays hog feces and urine onto her property, which her grandfather acquired as a freed slave.
Tragically, Elsie was recently diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer––a disease strongly linked to pollution from hog factory farms.
