When I’m stressed it will often enter my dreams. Last night was a long one. We were shooting an episode of Gilmore Girls… (I think I was dreaming about it because I had just done an interview where I mentioned Lane Kim) and it was a very long scene. Of course, because this is a stress dream, I hadn’t gotten the script ahead of time. For some reason the only copy of this scene was printed in a magazine… so I’m flipping through the magazine trying to keep all the lines in my head. The scene had something to do with a party we were planning so there was a long list of dishes we were making and tons of names of invitees. Amy Sherman-Palladino was watching. The whole crew was there waiting. It was a mess. But the scene was with Alexis Bledel. She was calm and cool as a cucumber. She knew I was struggling but she wasn’t worried. She was just patient. 💕Anyway… it is still morning… and I’m still a bit stressed! But I thought I would share a bit of this story.
Oh, by the way, the interview was with @entertainmenttonight. It was a really powerful panel. @margaret_cho @alicomedy and @thejeanniemai and I were talking about Asian American Heritage month and what we can do to combat the rise in Anti-Asian violence. So, it’s no wonder my sleep was fitful. Please check out that talk when it airs later this month. I will make a more proper post about it when it gets closer to the date. 💕

I got to shadow Frances McDormand for a few weeks when we worked on a Transformers movie. I admired her prior to working on the film but getting to spend so much time with her really made me fall in love. She is a gem. Congratulations to Frances and CHLOE ZHAO on their Oscar wins. Nomadland is a brilliant film. I can’t wait to see what Chloe does in the future. Her win is historic and her heart and grace shines through every time I hear her speak. 💕

One of the best parts of getting cast in #ProdgalSon is getting to know Lou Diamond Phillips. Besides being an incredible actor AND director, he is a fabulously supportive friend. I just found out a little while ago. Unfortunately, we are not getting a season three of #ProdigalSon. So here is a little heart to heart between me and “Lil Edrisa” and the #Prodigies out there. Love you lots. It was an absolute honor to work with this cast and crew. They are as kind as they are talented. It is the end of an absolutely spectacular and special road. I will miss them all. 💔
