@runtmovie, which premiered a year ago at @mammothfilmfestival, explores a topic of great significance to teenagers and adults alike. As a direct result of parents, teachers and other adults being present, but not being involved in the lives of at-risk children, the teenagers in the film resort to bullying, anger and subsequently to violence as a way of grappling with difficult decisions. The epidemic of guns in schools – as a way for teens to try to resolve their problems and express themselves – has become unrestrained and out of control. The belligerence of the misguided teens derives from a general mistrust of adults and the absence of mentors or engaged parents in their lives. They have no one to turn to in unforeseen circumstances and do not have the perseverance or rational context needed to guide them in their decision-making in times of crisis. | Posted on 27/Mar/2021 04:29:07
