Victoria Park Instagram – all my life i’ve heard about violence/hate against asians (and definitely more so in the past year), but i was never able to cry about it. but yesterday i read this poem, and all the violence, all the slurs.. every shove, kick, slash, burn, hateful word, and wrongful death came pouring through me and i wept.
all my life i’ve been taught to despise my hue, and it was only a few years ago i was able to realize that gold is beautiful and strong. we are beautiful and strong.
the hate we as a community have been facing and the lack of outrage (or frankly, knowledge) surrounding it is heartbreaking and frightening and anger-inducing and real. but the past few days, i’ve seen us rise and speak, fight and stand. i’ve been encouraged by the allies that have come around us. don’t believe the lies that white supremacy tell us, fam – we’re stronger together and there’s enough for us all.
so to my asian bbs, i hear you, i see you, i love you, i’m proud to be among you. take care of yourselves and one another. and be proud to be gold, because i sure am 💛 | Posted on 12/Feb/2021 04:37:33
