Kamal Haasan Instagram – Reposted from @rkfioffl Part -1 Today marks the 2nd anniversary since Mr Crazy Mohan’s demise and am sure every fan will be remembering his famous punchlines from his vast repertoire of plays and films. Mr Kamal Haasan was first a great fan of his writing who then went on to become one of Mr Mohan’s closest friend, confidante and partner in crime. Mr Crazy Mohan and Mr Kamal Haasan started their journey together as early as 1975/76 . “I was given the script of ‘Crazy Thieves in Palavakam’ to read while I was recuperating at home from a brief illness. The woodhouse’ian manner of comedy had me in splits and our journey together kickstarted there”, reminisces the actor. They went on to work together on several blockbuster classics such as Michael Madhana kamarajan, Aboorva Sagotharargal, Sathileelavathi, Avvai Shanmugi , Panchatantiram, Vasool Raja MBBS and many more. “It was always a laugh riot when we got together and it would be funny to watch him running out of the set bursting out loud into laughter uncontrollably during a shot to avoid spraying the set with betel leaves and nut juice in his mouth ,while I improvise further on the lines He always carried a bag of betel and nuts with accompanying condiments . That’s all he carried along for a story discussion .The main ingredient for his story making and humor was in his head . While shooting the romantic telephone conversation scene with kushboo in Michael Madhana…she says “neenga romba naughty’nga” and I reply saying “neenga matharum enna kammi-naughty a”. I had spontaneously replied and remember Mr Mohan running out of set as he couldn’t control his laughter. Avvai shanmugis climax was conceived during a drive back from pondy .Even if the diver was scholastic with his Tamil he would not have e understood a word that was spoken though there was a story in the making Not a radio drama you hear and perceive . It would have sounded like 2 chemists discussing a secret formula only they knew using code words like Nh4no3 noone could guess that we were in the process of making laughing gas for ourselves and others.
