It didn’t occur to me until today, on what would have been your 70th birthday, that you’ve been signaling me every day these past few months. I just wasn’t able to see it. I wasn’t able to see that you have been sending me your strength and the ability to step outside of grief to focus and be completely present. Some days I even wear one of your old t-shirts tucked under my sweatshirt when I need a little extra luck. I miss you more than I ever knew possible and truly had no idea how hard today would be.
