This is why, when I am shooting weddings, I look forward to portraying this very relationship between the bride and her mother and the groom and his mother as well. At Lakshmi’s wedding, it was heartwarming to see the playful, loving vibe that resonated between the mother-daughter duo, filled with fun remarks and an exuberant spirit. And while they both were vivacious most of the time, on the morning of the wedding, they graced a quiet charm, making the most of each other’s close presence. I can imagine that just having her mother around must have given Lakshmi implicit strength and validation, while for her mother, this must have been one of the most precious days. As I observed them while taking these pictures, I thought to myself how beautiful and important a day it was to both, as if the silence conveyed the tremendous love they felt for each other. I believe that these quieter moments are full of stillness and warmth that give milestones like weddings all the more grace. Because as touching as it is to see people revel in merriment, there is also a certain purity in the tender moments that gently unfold.
