John Harlan Kim Instagram – Valentine’s Day is also my mother’s birthday. But she hates her birthdays and has absolutely no desire to celebrate them (we’d still usually do something simple a gift). Anyway back around the time of 6th-ish grade, I would tell people that my mother was always my Valentine just to get out of doing anything. They all thought it was adorable and had these grand delusions of me annually taking my mother out for her extravagant birthday/Valentine’s dinners!
Eventually, I realized how cute my crushes thought the idea of being my first non-mother Valentine was. So naturally, I started telling them that they were. All of them. And they would get all giddy and everything… “Look, me Mum’s usually my Valentine but I’ll make an exception for you (insert name) cause you’re special to me!”. People talked or snitched depending on how you look at it and eventually I was exposed as a fraud as they all realized I was just an 11 year old playa. It’s still a mystery as to who my first non-mother Valentine was… point is I’m a terrible son and lover. Anyway Happy Birthday Mum wishing you all a Happy Valentine’s Day!!! 🌹🎂
