Barbara Eden Instagram – I just heard the news that retired Brigadier General Chuck Yeager has passed away at 97. I had the thrilling honor of first meeting him back in 1965 when we were promoting “I Dream of Jeannie.” Chuck was the first man to fly faster than the speed of sound at 700 miles per hour on Oct. 14, 1947! Without a doubt he launched the Space Age. I last saw General Yeager at his 93rd Birthday when my husband Jon and I were honored to be among those who joined him for the celebration. My deepest condolences to his wife Victoria and his entire family in this time of his passing. Chuck lived a long and accomplished life doing what he loved and has left his mark in the annals of American history which shall never be forgotten.
