Shaylee Mansfield Instagram – When I start to interact with a hearing person, the hearing person automatically asks me this question… “Can you read lips?” When a hearing person asks that particular question, it does unintentionally put a burden on the Deaf person to read lips, to accommodate the hearing person. There is this assumption that Deaf people are magical lip readers when that’s far from the truth. Didn’t you know that lip reading is mostly a guessing game and has a low accuracy rate?
