Toby Sandeman Instagram – It’s moments like these, where it feels like time freezes and it’s like I see everything around me but from the perspective of me as a kid. That kid was a 10 year old island kid on the streets coming up to your car barefoot, to sell you fruits as you stop at the traffic lights 🚦. I had the samples from the sweet trees for you to taste and the pre made bunches from the sour trees ready for you to buy!!!! (I remember the day I got those mixed up but that’s a story for another day.) We would set up an antenna to “catch” cable hoping to be able to maybe get a semi clear picture of a Dragonballz episode or a music video playing. I remember buying @50cent first album “Get Rich or die trying.” I thought it was incredible and though I knew nothing about that New York life he was talking about. Some how the lyrics “𝗜’𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗶𝗻’𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱. 𝗜’𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜 𝗮𝗶𝗻’𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗱.” Felt like he was talking about me. I had all these ideas… dreams… visions… inside me, but at the same time who was I kidding. That wasnt the story for people who grew up in my neighborhood. Look, I’m no guru. I don’t have all the answers and I certainly have many more goals to achieve. But if there’s a kid out there reading this who has a dream… Who feels like they have something in them. No matter how far fetched it seems, No matter what your circumstances look like, Put your head down, become single minded with your dream, Work Hard, beyond Hard, be Relentless… And it’s possible you’ll one day wake up to working with someone who inspired you, like I did.✌🏽#RaisingKanan
