I moved to LA ten days after my 18th birthday. Most people at the time bet I would be back in Pennsylvania within the year. That it would be “too hard.”
At a little over the year mark I was beyond home sick, wasn’t booking any jobs, and was in a horribly abusive relationship that I kept from everyone.
I called my dad in a Ralph’s parking lot and told him I wanted to move back home and go to law school (which was the original plan)…. he told me no. He said I wasn’t allowed ha.
He told me I am the maker of my own path and it gets to be whatever I want it to be as long as I fight for it. He reminded me that I am a dreamer and I would never be truly happy if I didn’t follow those dreams and he knew this because he settled on his. He has always, no matter how far away, fueled me to keep going. To believe and never give up on myself. He does this for everyone who is lucky enough to know him. He is the fuel and the fight when you think your tank is empty. He has the kind of heart and humor that lights up a whole room. He will pick you up when you are down and then kick your ass to keep going.
