I asked Rafiat why she is an activist, and she had this to say: “I have always been an activist for as long as I could remember. This early push was greatly influenced by my father. I grew up watching him fight others’ rights, while supporting young people in fulfilling their aspirations. I find myself threading this path, addressing systemic and leadership failure, demanding good governance and an equitable society for all. Being an activist today means putting myself in others’ shoes, listening to issues stagnating their development, and using my influence to amplify their voices. I believe others can contribute to making a better world by being active citizens who educate, engage and empower everyone, especially the marginalized.
