No one has been cooler or kinder to me on the late night circuit than Conan O’Brien and the whole of @teamcoco. So very grateful for every time they had me on the show. Even when I once missed my flight and failed to make it to the taping that night, you understood, made a joke of it that night, and still rebooked me later. That’s real class. In the middle of the pandemic, myself and a wonderful group of folks had the extreme fortune to bring this story to life. A story about underdogs. Not just Kurt, and his incredible rise to fame in the @NFL, but also his wife Brenda, and their kids. It’s about the underdog in all of us, and the faith and commitment it takes to beat the odds, and then some. This Christmas, we get to share this story with the world, and I truly hope you have the opportunity to see it. It’s full of hope. It’s full of faith. It’s full of love. Oh, and there’s a little football in there too. 😉

I like to believe that kids are the closest to our creator. Often, their still unjaded soul can seem to tune in to understanding what they’re very purpose and destiny are. Who they are meant to be, and what they are meant to do, in this life. But that journey is never an easy one, as the world has an incredible knack for bruising our souls, and tuning us out from that which we know beyond knowing is our actual calling.
I also like to think that if, as we age, we can hold on to that vision and conviction in our hearts and minds, and fight against the pain, against the fears, against the doubts, against the doubters, and against the odds, with the faith and ferocity of a LION, then maybe, just maybe, that promise is fulfilled. And in ways that you could not possibly imagine. And inspire anyone who’s lucky enough to hear about it.
This is that kinda story. And more. And I really hope y’all get a chance to see it this Christmas. Consider it my present. I’ve been pretty good boy this year. I promise. 😉🙏

Like most of us, I had no idea he was even battling for his life against the cancer invading his body. I suppose it shouldn’t surprise me that he wanted to keep that private. When so much of your life’s work is bringing smiles to people’s faces, the last thing you want is to leave them with frowns. Though I never knew him personally, I genuinely believe that if you cared to listen, you knew exactly who he was. Something I think most stand-ups are. A truth teller. He used his wit, and charm, and talent, to help people see the paradoxes, ironies, and insanities of life. And he did it brilliantly. And he did it til the end. Rest in laughs, Turd Ferguson. The truth is, I think @edgarwright is a damn genius and I would watch anything he makes. All that said, this documentary is one of the best I’ve ever seen, and I legitimately had no idea who these “Sparks” gentlemen even were! But that’s what’s so great about it, you don’t NEED to know who they are. You need only walk into the theater with an open mind and heart, and allow yourself to learn some fascinating shit, about some fascinating people. Trust me, it’s worth the trip. And the parking.
