Hi everyone! For my birthday this year, I wanted to ask your support in helping my friend Ajith Romston in Sri Lanka, whom Julian and I met in 2018 when we visited the country. Sadly, the tourism industry in Sri Lanka has been badly hit and Ajith has not been able to work as driver/tour guide for the better part of the year. We’ve giving aid to Ajith through these difficult times but would love your help to reach our goals of providing him and his family financial security for the year. $4200 is all they need to cover their expenses for a YEAR, which includes school fees for his three children, living expenses and medical needs (he recently underwent heart surgery and one of his children caught Covid-19). Malala Yousafzai, who was shot in the head by Taliban gunmen in 2012, has told the BBC “countries need to open their borders to Afghan refugees”, following the fall of the country’s government to the Taliban.
The Nobel peace laureate said she has sent a letter to Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan asking him to allow refugees, and “ensure that the refugee children and girls have access to education”.
