Nandita Das Instagram – Repost by @reposta.app_

I’ve known the artist Jatin Das since 1968, when I came back from Japan and set up my barsaati flat in Defence Colony. I’ve known his designer son Siddhartha since he left NID and did a short project with Dastkar in the 1990s, documenting dhokra lost wax casting in Orissa. Jatin and Siddhartha are very very different; the common thread being their creativity, energy, and love for each other. The JD Centre of Art they have been setting up in Bhubaneswar, and which is hosting this session along with the IIC, is a most exciting space.
It will be fun to chat with them about working with crafts and craftspeople – a bond that unites all three of us.
Saturday 6pm.

(And thank you, Mayank, for your photograph of me – I don’t know how they got hold of it, maybe off Facebook). | Posted on 09/Sep/2021 22:10:23
