A few months ago I watched an Insta live between @moyege_ , @labakejolaoso and @yasminlili on @rbc_dice. Their conversation resonated with me on such a powerful level and at a time where I was feeling very unsure of myself. So much so, that I reached out to Yasmin after watching because her experiences felt so similar to mine and I was in awe, seeing another mixed race woman speak with such power and confidence. From there we’ve maintained a wonderful dialogue and sharing space for which, I could not be more grateful.
Cut to yesterday, when I had the absolute pleasure of chatting to @moyege_ , @savvannahjj and @monique.l.w myself. I can’t tell you how phenomenal it was to connect with these three incredible women and discuss our industry, acting, colourism and many other important topics that shape and challenge Black artists today. Thank you for letting me ramble and for giving me the chance to engage with you all. We are so blessed to have exceptional Black women and creatives who are currently in and who are entering into our industry with their voices loud and their excellence in abundance.
