Like a golden rule. This refrain has rung through my heart for almost a decade. And it’s been true in my life. You may think I’ve always had friends, because you’ve seen me in visible roles in different communities. But it wasn’t always that way. I spent years of my life disconnected from friends. What broke the cycle was when I started to recognize there were people like me walking around alone too. And I started there by helping them meet new people and that’s when everything changed in my life and eventually in the life of those communities.
So if you’re looking to make friends, start by serving others.
