Sebastian de Souza Instagram – I could not be prouder to tell you that Lapwing ( @lapwingmovie ) will be premiering at Leeds Film Festival this November! In it I play Rumi opposite the mesmerically talented @miss_h_douglas .
Although the film is set in 1555, I don’t think it could be more relevant or important today. The story begins just after Queen Elizabeth has decreed that Egyptians ‘gypsies’ must leave England or face execution. Post Brexit, post Trump, post everything I think this rural drama is extremely timely.
Its fiendishly brilliant writer Laura Turner shows us how little some things have changed between 16th Century England and the present.
I could not be more grateful to Phil Stevens and all of the other exceptional individuals involved in making this brilliant film for including me in your art. You are all legends, unbelievably talented legends.
