Veronica Green Instagram – Red Carpet Showstopper.
This look, in part was to pay homage to my mum and her sisters. Being an 80’s baby, I was around this kind of hairstyle A LOT in my family and wanted to celebrate my mum and all my aunties who rocked the perm.
Fran, Anne, Eileen, Cathy, Jeanette & Mary. This runway was for you! Love you 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚

I didn’t cope very well with the lockdown after production shut down on season 2. In May 2020 I tried to keep myself busy with sewing projects to ‘elevate’ my drag for my season 2 return but I had no work, no money and no contacts. I had to keep my drag race journey a secret from everyone and it took a mental toll. Taking the NDA too seriously and not telling my friends, family and housemates put one of the biggest mental strains on me in my life. I felt isolated, helpless and alone.
Im not a designer. I taught myself to sew specifically for drag race using a lot of YouTube tutorials. I saw this cute dress I liked and wanted to recreate it with my own spin on it. Project ‘Ray of sunshine’ as I called it was to try to keep me upbeat during the lockdown, hence the sunshine colour scheme. (I was not aware that a dress similar had been worn on the runway of Drag Race U.S until AFTER I completed the dress but oh well, we live and we learn).
The Ill fitting critique was a valid one. I saved every spare penny I had over the summer and finally bought my own proper mannequin to replace the shoddy, too short and wonky shop window one I had been using so that I could get better at creating my own garments.
