i grew up in inner city chicago and had little to no exposure to actual “nature” and stuff, and i never actually saw cacti in real life. i legit thought that they were like dinosaurs and they were extinct or something, or like make believe plants, until i was (whatever age i was here) and we went to arizona, and i saw them everywhere and my little mind was blown, and i was so excited, so i made my brothers take polaroids of me standing next to them and also *holding hands* with them. anyway, i imagine this could never happen these days, because the internet teaches important facts like “cacti are not plant dinosaurs” and it makes me sad because it was such a (delayed lol) yet mind blowing discovery, and now i wonder if anything will ever be that pure and exciting anymore. anyways we all shouldn’t take things for granted. especially plants that don’t need water and have knives all over them. that shits crazy.
