Birthday review: no notes 1. Laughing at how it turned midnight while waiting out the rain 2. Our haven from the downpour (and curfew enforcers) 3. Surprise confection from my hotel 4. Blissful seclusion 5. Poolside beers with these champs 6. Mall Rats 7. Second night in a row for truffled ramen 🤌 8. Snuck into a closed rooftop lounge 9. View from the top! 10. “Happy Birth” indeed

Doing what I can to keep Annette Bening relevant (neither of my lunch dates knew who she was so this work is not in vain)
Whitaker was a Knight Rider cat, rescued by Toni from Transpo who spotted a box of kittens in the trunk of a background actress’s car on location in Palos Verdes. Cast and crew pulled dollars together for those first vet bills. When they were old enough to be adopted, my first choice was the one who looked like he just crawled out of the spin cycle. I named him after Forrest Whitaker since I had just seen Last King of Scotland & they both had wonky eyes. Whitaker the cat was an aggressive cuddler with a serpentine walk and machine gun purr. He loved water. He’d drink it from your cup when you weren’t looking, breaking dozens of glasses of over the years. He could unzip suitcases with his claw and crawl inside. He was the weirdest little guy and that’s what made him so great. I’m gonna miss that bastard.
