13-year-old Lameah and her sister survived an armed attack targeting girls and their families outside a high school in Kabul, #Afghanistan last May. Many of their beloved friends and teachers did not survive – 85 people were killed and more than 200 others were injured.
Every student and teacher should feel safe at school, yet for millions around the world, that is not a reality. More than 11,000 attacks against schools and universities were reported in the past five years alone.
Attacks on schools, students and educators are attacks on children’s education and their future.
On Thursday’s International Day to Protect Education from Attack, our message is clear: Schools are #NotATarget.
