I know that the topic of Israeli and Palestinian identities is complex and sensitive. I admit I’m afraid to talk about it because the situation is deeper than I know. But it feels imperative to speak up at the same time b/c it also seems simple. Palestinian oppression and human rights violations are playing out on a world stage and it’s heartbreaking. Bombing Al-Aqsa mosque during Ramadan is heinous. This clip was very powerful to me and I felt like it narrowed in on the dangers of fundamentalism. Which is a lesson for the entire world, really. History is repeating itself over and over, colonizing and decolonizing, and I am learning and unlearning over and over.
Criticizing Israel doesn’t have to be anti-Semitic. Criticizing America’s role in funding Israel’s occupation is absolutely necessary. My heart goes out to Palestine and the victims of this terrifying destruction. | Posted on 15/May/2021 04:57:18
