Ulrika Jonsson Instagram – Thought I’d share some BTS pics from the week of bubbling BEFORE we were hooded and taken at the crack of dawn to @sas_whodareswins . That initial week was one of the best of my life. Holed up in the charming @tongadale on Isle of Skye where we were brought food 3 times a day by the best staff, ever. And from which we were allowed to escape for 1 1/2hrs a day to exercise. (The extent of which for me was unbelievable dawn hikes alone and sometimes with another recruit). @oreodubaofficial (my Pudding Pal) and I debated long and hard every day about which pud to have and then photographed them for posterity. @kerrykatona7 (#chillyminge pal) and I would put the world to rights and laugh at how out of breath we were. I devoured @tamsincalidas__kalidasa “I Am An Island” in two short days which was not only an apt, immersive read but stunningly crafted and shockingly raw. I had a week of no responsibilities – away from family and dogs – and only myself on which to rely. First time in my life I’ve done that and I bloody loved it. I was catapulted onto the course with a spare bra; spare pair of knickers and a toothbrush. With only my mind and body to count on. Hadn’t really counted on hypothermia being my downfall. But it was singularly the most profound experience of my life. I set myself three goals: – to not be first out✔️ – to do everything they asked of me ✔️ – to not VW. ✔️ Came home to a cute banner by the Ungratefuls and my ex. Legs black and blue and a missing toe nail. Raasay will forever be in my heart. Endless gratitude to @antmiddleton @billingham22b @stazthrudark @melvyndownes (and his fucking chickens) and the pussycat that is @jason_carl_fox . Thanks, too, to all members of the production team who worked relentlessly to make it happen and ensure no one died…. Scotland. Oh, bonnie Scotland. You unfolded to me your breathtaking beauty. Your harshest but also your very best. The DS took my breath away in an altogether different way – were uncompromising and intense. But it’s what I needed. Weird to think that when I came home, I felt, for quite some time, that I didn’t belong. @channel4 9pm tonight.
