As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects on tourism, Africa’s wildlife rangers are facing threats to their jobs, communities and the endangered wild animals they risk their lives to protect. On October 3rd, more than one thousand rangers from across Africa will be competing in a virtual race to raise money to support thousands of their ranger colleagues.
The rangers are training for the race with different exercise challenges each week. To show our support, @markrowley90, @arnasfederman and I joined in…

Paul Wilmshurst directed 3 episodes back to back this season. An extremely impressive feat considering the huge workload and countless challenges (COVID, continuity within changing seasons, stubborn horses, stubborn actors… 😊).

Since @arnasfederman, @markrowley90 and I shot our cupcake-sit up video last month, the race on October 3rd united 2000 rangers from 119 protected areas, and thousands of supporters from over 80 countries in support of Wildlife Rangers impacted by COVID-19. Congratulations to everyone who took part and thank you so much to everyone who donated!!
Funds raised through the Wildlife Ranger Challenge are benefiting more than 9000 rangers protecting more than 4 million square kilometers of habitat in Africa. You can continue to support the rangers. Donations will be matched through October 31. (link in bio)
