Casca, the real hero of Berserk. I’ve always thought of a drawing as a collection of abstractions, with anything depictive as a byproduct of these abstractions—swipe for deets (ig fucked up the screentones in the first one). This above is probably the most detailed thing I’ve done in a while—decided to see how far I can take or without losing the lightness, and reading Miura’s work has been a humbling masterclass on all these matters. Berserk may seem like fairly straightforward realistic manga, but on pretty much every page there’s something new in the way he handles lines, shapes and screentones, and even the most brutal stuff has a certain dignity to it (that scene at the culmination of the eclipse excluded). Get the deluxe editions of you can (the Brooklyn library has all of those), they are pretty wild. I’m waiting for volume 6 rn. Anyway, you can get this print from @roomfifty, small or large or even very large. #casca #berserk Brooklyn, New York
