Anna Baryshnikov Instagram – I’m loathe to ramble earnestly on the gram, but here goes. We shot episode 5 right after passing the one year mark since the pandemic began. I felt unbelievably grateful to be working, and was resisting letting myself feel the enormity of that anniversary. @bykeithpowell was shooting the sing-a-long in a technically ambitious way and after giving an inspiring speech about how the day was going to go, the camera equipment promptly broke. What followed was hours of downtime and by the time the cast was all together singing, we were delirious and giddy. I felt possessed by a years worth of laughter. It was Ella’s birthday. Hailee surprised her with balloons and cake. We danced and sang and quieted the hum of anxiety that had taken up permanent residence that year. I was awed by the crew’s patience and precision. By the time Hailee sang hard times, I was a puddle of sobs. It had been such a hard time – continued to be – for so many people. Being together and celebrating meant the world to me that day.
