Carla Gugino Instagram – I love movies. I know that’s not news to anyone who knows me. It was my immediate infatuation with movies as a kid that drew me to become and actress and make them. By that standard, my whole life is what it is because of my love of movies. β™₯️ This week I got to see 2 vastly different films (in theaters!) made by filmmakers who both have such a strong sense of their own style and command of the medium. It might seem strange that these two excellent films would share a post because they aren’t apparently related. But they both remind me of my favorite kind of film: one that has a singular vision behind it, takes me on a journey away from my life and brings me back to it simultaneously. Movies that resonate days after. I’m much less interested in perfect and much more interested in the story that a facile and inspired film maker gifts is with. #TheHandOfGod by @paolosorrentino_real is an intimate coming of age tale set in the midst of the hilarity, tragedy, and complexity of family. #LastNightInSoho by @edgarwright is a visually sumptuous bloody psychological horror film. Exhilarating, scary, and with grrrrreat music as always from Edgar. So: Here’s to singular filmmakers telling bold stories that entertain, make us reflect, and draw us in! πŸ‘πŸΌ πŸŽ₯ πŸ‘πŸΌ
