Most of them don’t sign or learn how to sign. There’s a lot of small talk in between, head nodding, and fake laughs at the holiday gatherings. Eventually, Deaf people find ways to keep them entertained through books, TV, movies, or social media. Some choose to leave early. If there is one, there’s this hearing mom who interprets everything (and that’s impossible to do!). Take the burden off them and give them the gift of full inclusion.
