Andrew Gillum Instagram – We decided to make this MLK holiday a chance to help our children deepen into Civil Rights history with a trip to the seat of the movement in Montgomery, AL. The kids got to learn more about MLK Jr., Rosa Parks, John Lewis, Ralph Abernathy and more. They also saw some personal family history when they visited the residence of the President of Alabama State University where their mom spent a lot of her childhood. They kids were so engaged, asked so many good questions and were even treated to a bit of snow… flurries 😜. I am hopeful that the lessons they learned here will stay with them forever . I hope that we are all finding ways to make this holiday a day ON for our history. Happy Dr. Martin Luther (& Coretta Scott) King Day!
