I had the time of my life this summer at @lureofthenorth doing their 8 day wilderness survival course lead by Kielyn Marrone from Alone Season 7! I was so incredibly inspired watching her journey on the show and how badass and vulnerable she was, let alone the fact that she survived 80 days in Alaska, well, ALONE. Kielyn and her husband Dave’s philosophy of “do more with less” is really hitting home with me. Kielyn was such a wonderful leader and taught us how to build shelter, forage for food, fell trees and cut firewood, make our own fishing rods/lures, process fish, set snares, make baskets, and much more. What was meant to be more of a solo experience turned into a beautiful community of lovely people sharing what we could, and I cannot wait to go back this Winter. I’m hooked.

Starting out 2022, I got to experience the magic that Winter can be with a group of magical people. A week long training camp to learn the basics of traditional winter camping, meaning we travelled by snow shoe, pulled everything on toboggans, and slept in canvas ’hot tents’ heated by wood stoves. It was such an epic adventure and left me with the knowledge that we are all capable of more than we think and that we need each other to get by. Thank you @lureofthenorth for another incredible trip and reminding me that I love winter!! (And thanks to the group for the pics!)
