Kelly McCreary Instagram – Leaving 2021 with peace in my spirit. This was a helluva full year for our family. We grew in number and in love and strength. Indigo has already hit the reset button for us, renewing our values, our sense of purpose, humbling and teaching and delighting us each and every day. We endured multiple hospitalizations, a lot of sickness, and thankfully saw a lot of healing. I vomited more times than you can possibly imagine. And then remember that time I burned my face — my FACE!— while cooking? Vaccinations opened the door to our first dinner out, first flight, first family gatherings after 15 months of staying our butts at home. Spent more beautiful time with my original family than I have been able to do in years. Not taking those moments for granted anymore. Went from a camera roll full of dog photos to one full of baby photos (sorry, Motown). My eyebrows, in general, looked great. And I managed to get this holiday makeup on with one hand while holding this baby. Accomplishments, y’all. Change, too. Trauma. Healing. Fun. Miracles. And so much love. We made it through because of that. Happy New Year to you. I wish you a year with more of what you want and all of what you need. 💙💙💙
Kelly McCreary Instagram – My beautiful, brilliant friend @caterinascorsone took the words right out of my brain. Please read her eloquent post below. {TL;DR: EVERYONE benefits when workplaces support women and families.} Posted @withregram • @greysabc Okay. Real talk. This show was created and is largely run by women and people who identify outside of the white cis het male category that has traditionally dominated our networks and work environments. We’ve been groundbreakers here at @greysabc for 18 seasons. So something about this magical formula is working. The writers, producers, much of the crew and many of the actors are family prioritizing ballers who are kicking ass. -We can’t do all of this incredible work without a work culture and environment that is STRUCTURALLY supportive of women and families. There is a lot of invisible labor that is going on when people decide to have families. There’s the physical toll of making the baby and the physical, emotional, psychological and financial toll of caring for children while working -or of needing to give up work to provide that care. I think @seekellymccreary just had the 23rd or 24th cast baby since @greysabc started. I’m three babies in. Because of the progressive structural support of @shondarhimes @greysabc @kristavernoff @shondaland and @disneytvstudios I was able to have my children and continue to play Amelia Shepherd so that I could contribute to the experience we all get to have each Thursday night. We have ALL benefited from the inclusive, responsible and socially positive attitude that is fostered on this set. All of us. Viewers, crew, cast, writers, creative executives and corporate executives. So… let’s keep talking about it. -So that NOT supporting families in corporate culture becomes the weird thing, rather than us thinking that our show (your fave for 18 seasons) is so ahead of the curve and wildly sane and humane. We’re not weird. We’re awake. We remembered who we were. And we have real cute babies and full hearts.❤️
