When I was a young girl, I used to throw great birthday parties. My ‘poor’ parents would have to endure the new theme I threw on them each year, as well as prepare for 30 people, only to have 200 people show up, 🤦🏾♀️. I really do think touring and performance is an extension of this desire to create a space for people to have joyful experiences, engage with others, enjoy themselves and make memories. Thank you to everyone sending me birthday love today! Reflecting that energy right back to you! I am rich with family, friendship and love, and I’m grateful for yet another year to both contemplate and appreciate that.
Using my birthday hopefulness for peace and reconciliation where there is war and unrest, grace and clarity for troubled minds and hearts, and solutions and pathways made visible for those suffering to overcome despair.
