Maria Ryaboshapka Instagram – ❗I receive a lot of questions in my DM about the relationship between Ukraine and Russia. I want to share our history with you.

January 22 Ukrainian people celebrate Day of Ukrainian Unity🇺🇦

Kievan Rus’ with Kyiv as its center was established much earlier than Moscovia was. Ukraine and Russia have always been two different countries with their own languages and cultures.

Ukraine and Russia are often be confused with each other, be called brotherly nations.
“Brotherly nations” is not an ethnical term, but a myth, the Soviet Union propaganda, which was aimed at conquering the neighbouring nations and their russification. This myth comes as a substitute for ideas of Russian tsarism, whose goal was accessing of Ukrainian and Belarusian nations to their country.

A lot of Ukrainians speak Russian because of total Russification during USSR. The Soviet Union government was destroying Ukrainian national culture for more than 70 years: Dekulakization, Executed Renaissance, Holodomor, a lot of repressions, deportations, persecution of Ukrainian church…

As of the relationship between Ukraine and Russia today, the war has been going on for 8 years now. In general, Russia has always wanted to steal our history.
Since the becoming of Tsardom of Russia and until today, Ukrainians have to lead a national liberation movement and fight for it, with the price of unbelievably high losses.
