While they imprisoned our freedom fighters in Kala Paani, they left a lavish life in Ross Island with their familes. The trees and roots have grown into the abandoned parks, churches, schools that are destroyed by world war II. The way the roots have grown into the crumbling buildings makes this place worth a visit. Ross island is now known as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Island. It is now maintained by the Indian Navy.
