Veena Malik Instagram – All over the world, media reflects and promotes cultural values, norms and traditions of the country in which it is based. It’s a representation. It’s the enforcement of an identity to the outside world. It’s sad to see that the Pakistani media either misrepresents our identity or try to impose an alien culture on us to appease few. We aren’t what we r shown on screen. A Pakistani woman has Haya. She prefers to have dupatta over her head, her eyes have modesty, she believes in the sacredness of Chadar and Char Deewari. But our media potrays her as “Billi, Tutti Fruiti, Chambeli”. SICK!!!! I demand government of Pak to ensure fair representation of our people on our tv/film screen. It should be mandatory for our female artists to carry dupatta whenever on screen (because that’s what who we are) And can we for GOD sake stop objectifying women for petty commercial gains. We have such a rich culture why do we have to stoop low to gain attention? There is a fine line between aesthetics and vulgarity. Mind the difference!!! Last but not the least, those Brown Sahibs criticising KP govt’s recent directives on Chadar, should know that Pakistan rejects them and their imported values. #VeenaMalik
