Also Covid has passed and we are all healthy and feeling great now thank God! I’ve been meditating on so many things, but Emily and I had a beautiful little ceremony and I wanted to share these six things I am choosing to “work” on this year. Justin Baldoni Instagram – We live in a world where so many of us mask our own pain, failures, and shortcomings by pointing out someone else’s. There’s a temporary dopamine hit that comes from calling someone out, a temporary moment of power that eventually goes away and we are left with the emptiness the calling out was masking in the first place. Progress can never happen so long as we call each other out. We need to call each other IN. That’s why I love and admire this man Tony Porter so much. So much of who I am today, and the work we do through @wearemanenough is because of men like Tony and Ted, and organizations like @acalltomen I hope you’ll tune in to hear Tony talk about transparency, vulnerability, breaking out of the man box, and the need to center the experiences and liberation of Black women. And then I hope you’ll join me in getting to work on making our world a kinder, more just and equitable place.
Justin Baldoni Instagram – My baby sister walked in with this homemade buttercream frosting chocolate cake a few days ago while I was deep in a moment of Covid self-pity and I burst into tears. Knowing my birthday is coming up and also how terrible sugar is for Covid, she baked me this “keto/ sugar free” version of the buttercream Costco cake I’ve had each year on my bday since I was a kid. So yeah….this is a legit, sugar free, carb free buttercream frosting chocolate cake that tastes as good as the real thing!! WTF. It’s amazing! I’ve been eating it alone at night for the last four nights. 😭🤷🏻‍♂️ If you like sweets you must know that @sarabaldoni is a MASTER BAKER and is starting her own high-end baking business. But she’s not just any kind of baker, she’s the“I have this allergy and can’t eat X baker.” Which serves pretty much the whole world now. And the best part is she makes everything with love. Not the big city/ I do yoga and and meditate and look how deep I am on social media kind of of love …but the real kind. The quiet kind. Where she sits and meditates on her food so it nourishes your body and your soul kind of love. Thr SELF-LESS kind. The kind of love our Nana used to put in to everything she made us. The kind of love I try to put into my films. We learned it from her. So if you need a cake or cookies or anything for a party or event… DM my sister immediately.
