This past year was filled with milestones. I had some huge wins, but also some real “come to Jesus” failures, and some serious realizations.
We originally wrote this song ‘Walking Dead’ about a romantic relationship I was in while filming the tv show ‘The Walking Dead: World Beyond,” but I listen to it now and it takes on a whole new meaning for me. This pandemic brought out the worst in me. I was walking around as a shell of who I once was, and didn’t even realize it until it was almost too late. I was doing my best to keep up with my career stuff, but my habits of isolation, heavily drinking, and lack of structure led me down a dark and empty road. I finally hit rock bottom when my unhealthy life style caused me to compromise both my relationships and even affected my career.
Who I was becoming was NOT who I want to be. I was truly ‘Walking Dead’ and just going through the motions of life. So now this song means something more to me. It’s about me, caught up in a toxic cycle of destruction with myself, that I am so grateful to be free from now. I’m sorry to anyone I let down or affected and I look forward to being a better human. Failures teach us more than wins.
