This was the first song I memorised. Ever. Mama used to listen to the radio all day long. She loved Lata ma’am. Mummy used to sing along and I would sit on our couch and admire her. I remember telling her once in the car while driving back home from school, “ma u sound just like madhuri Dixit!You have such a beautiful voice!”
Mum laughed at me and said thank you Noor Jahan (this is what she calls me) haha! But u know that’s not Madhuri Dixit’s voice. That’s Lata Mangeshkar! And I’m no Lata Mangeshkar! She’s the Nightingale of India! “

This was my official introduction to playback singing and ofcourse Lata ma’am and her magic! Been a fan girl since, And this memory will never fade.
